GUIDELINES IN THE RELEASE OF PHILIPPINE PASSPORTS

      1. The printing of ePassports is done in the Philippines. It takes at least thirty (30) days before the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) forwards the printed ePassport to the Embassy.
      2. The Embassy will inform the applicant either through a telephone call or Short Service Message (SMS) that his/her ePassport is ready for pick up.
      3. The release of Philippine Passports is done at the Embassy from 9:30 am to 11:30 am or 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm Monday to Friday, except on non-working holidays.
      4. The claimant is strongly advised to get the Embassy’s confirmation on whether or not the new passport is available before proceeding to collect his/her new Philippine Passport.
      5. A Filipino claimant who wishes to collect his/her Philippine Passport in the afternoon is strongly encouraged to make a prior appointment with the Embassy through call (3310407) or SMS (77928092).
      6. The claimant must present the following documents when claiming his/her Philippine Passport in person: (i) original receipt issued by the Embassy for the consular fee paid by the applicant for the ePassport, and (ii) latest passport of the applicant for cancellation before the Embassy can release his/her new ePassport.
      7. If the passport applicant is incapable of personally claiming his/her ePassport, the following documents must be presented: (i) the representative of the passport applicant shall be required to submit a Special Power of Attorney (SPA) issued only by the applicant stating the reasons for the failure to personally claim the passport and for the loss of official receipt (as the case may be), (ii) the applicant’s old passport for cancellation, (iii) ID of the applicant issued by the Philippine government or the host government, if abroad, and (iv) original and photocopy of the passport of the representative named in the SPA.
      8. Pursuant to DFA regulations, the Embassy is only authorized to keep passports for six (6) months from date of receipt at Post. All passports that remain unclaimed beyond the six (6) month period will be cancelled and forwarded to the DFA for proper disposal.
