02 March 2017 DILI, TIMOR-LESTE – Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Jose Ramos-Horta, former President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, hosted a farewell lunch in his home in Dili in honor of outgoing Philippine Ambassador Evelyn D. Austria-Garcia.

Dr. Ramos-Horta is a close friend of the Philippines and the Philippine Embassy in Dili.

“As you depart Timor-Leste, allow me to say how great an ambassador of the Philippines you have been, and it has been a pleasure to have met you and your husband,” Dr. Ramos-Horta told Ambassador Austria-Garcia

For her part, Ambassador Austria-Garcia said that she is leaving Timor-Leste with a heavy heart knowing that she has made many friends in Timor-Leste and has seen the country develop very quickly.

Ambassador Austria-Garcia was joined by her spouse, Mr. Rico Garcia, and First Secretary and Consul Jason Jovencio A. Anasarias during the farewell lunch. END
