DILI. 06 March 2022. The Philippine Embassy in Dili, Timor-Leste, together with the Embassy of Malaysia and in cooperation with the Association of Filipinos in East Timor (AFET), successfully conducted a Bloodletting Drive at Timor Plaza, Dili today from 9:00 o’clock in the morning to 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon. This humanitarian activity is in line with the objective of both Filipinos and Malaysians in Timor-Leste to aid the host country’s campaign against the surging dengue fever cases beginning late December 2021. The total recorded dengue cases for the months of January and February 2022 are more than five (5) times the total of the same months in the past year. The Hospital Nacional Guido Valadares (HNGV) is the recipient of the drive’s donated blood from more than fifty (50) donors.
H.E. Abdulmaid K. Muin of the Embassy of the Philippines and Vice Consul Mohammad Zurairi Mohammed Ali of the Embassy of Malaysia led their respective organizing teams at the venue. For the FilCom, AFET Vice President Mary Jane Bayan served as the lead representative. The event was supported by Timor Plaza, Ministerio da Saude, and Red Cross Timor-Leste. In his message, Amb.
