28 April 2025- In celebration of Filipino Food Month, the Philippine Embassy hosted a special cooking demonstration on 27 April 2025, showcasing one of the Philippines' most beloved dishes: Chicken Adobo.

The event, led by Ambassador Mary Anne A. Padua, highlighted the rich history and cultural significance of Filipino cuisine, emphasizing its deep-rooted traditions and global appeal. In her opening remarks, Ambassador Padua expressed the importance of preserving and promoting Filipino culinary heritage.

Following the Ambassador’s remarks, Mr. German N. Monteras, the Philippine Embassy’s Administrative Officer, took the stage to guide attendees through a live cooking demonstration, sharing essential techniques for preparing chicken adobo. With the assistance of Timorese participants, the demo became an interactive experience, promoting cultural exchange and shared appreciation for Filipino cuisine.

The celebration aimed to raise awareness and encourage cultural appreciation through food. Timorese guests were invited to taste the freshly prepared Adobo and actively participated in its preparation, experiencing firsthand the harmony of flavours that make it a staple in Filipino households.

As the event concluded, attendees left with a deeper understanding of Filipino cuisine and its role in shaping cultural identity. END
