On 29 August 2023, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) kicked off the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness (MANAMo) Month with an archipelagic exhibit entitled "Archipelagic States: Identity, Consciousness and the Law.
Through the issuance of Presidential Proclamation No. 316, Series of 2017, September became the designated month for the annual observance of MANAMo. The proclamation also harmonized the observance of Fish Conservation Week, International Coastal Clean-up Day, and National Maritime Day for commemoration every September.
MANAMo Month aims to promote public awareness and understanding of the Philippines as a maritime nation and archipelagic state, and to raise national consciousness on various maritime and archipelagic issues as well as public appreciation of current efforts of Philippine maritime stakeholders.
