The Philippine Embassy in Dili, Timor-Leste have organized a humanitarian flight for the repatriation back to Manila of Overseas Filipinos (OFs) in Timor-Leste to support those Filipinos “without work and with economic difficulties on account of the COVID 19 Pandemic posing threat to the health of humankind.
The Filipino repatriation flight, proceeded as re-scheduled on 25 May 2020, departed from Nicolau Lobato International Airport, Dili, TL at 1:00 pm, chartered by the Philippine Government Pan Pacific Airlines Airbus A320, which carried out the above-mentioned humanitarian flight, with passengers on board that includes Overseas Filipinos (OFs), Japanese, South Koreans, and an American citizen.
Other Filipino recipients to this humanitarian repatriation are tourists affected by cancelled flights when the “state of emergency” was declared in Timor-Leste, OF Senior Citizens with underlying health problems where some of their maintenance medicines of which are not available locally, and displaced workers as a result of stoppage due to COVID-19 and became undocumented workers by reason of expired visa.
Philippine Ambassador to Timor-Leste Abdulmaid K. Muin reminded travelers that upon arrival in Manila, they have to complete a 14-day quarantine. If they go to other areas of the Philippines, they will have to complete another identical quarantine period.
The officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy led by the Ambassador, together with the officers of the Association of Filipinos in East Timor (AFET) have worked together to make this humanitarian activity possible especially in the processing and facilitation of numerous documentary requirements needed for this repatriation of Overseas Filipinos from Dili to Manila. Also, H.E. Ambassador Muin convey his appreciation to all concerned Timorese offices in particular to TL MOFAC, Civil Aviation, Airport and Immigration Authorities. END
