Meeting with the Filipino Community

Ambassador Belinda M. Ante, addressed the Filipino Community on the discussion about their rights and responsibilities while residing in Timor-Leste.

31 October 2023- The Philippine Embassy in Dili successfully conducted a meeting with the Filipino Community on 29 October 2023 at the Embassy grounds. The two-hour gathering provided access to essential information on services provided by the Embassy and the Philippine Government, as well as current issues that have an impact on overseas Filipinos residing in Timor-Leste.

The seminar featured in-depth discussions led by Ambassador Belinda Ante and embassy personnel. Attendees viewed presentations on various topics, including pre-departure guidelines for international bound travelers from the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), understanding the key elements of employment contracts, combating human trafficking and illegal recruitment, general registration of Filipinos in Timor-Leste, and continuing overseas voter registration, among others.

Embassy personnel also shared vital reminders about the requirements for various consular services. Moreover, Embassy personnel addressed queries, concerns and insights raised by the community, and shared updates on relevant policy developments in the Philippines.

Throughout the seminar, active engagement was encouraged, with participants given the opportunity to raise additional topics and pose questions directly to embassy personnel. This open and inclusive environment fostered fruitful dialogue that addressed the specific needs and concerns of the attendees.

In her closing remarks, Ambassador Ante expressed appreciation to the attendees for their active engagement. Ambassador Ante emphasized the importance of having periodic discussions and encouraged participants to share their newfound knowledge with fellow community members. By organizing community-oriented events, the Embassy remains active in supporting and empowering overseas Filipinos in Timor-Leste to promote and protect their rights and welfare. END
